Ophthalmic & Medical

I describe my photographic life as being divided between my personal, fine art work and my career in ophthalmic and medical photography. My decision to make a career out of imaging in medicine and ophthalmology came as a result of my desire to use my photography as a way to help people. Although I started working as a medical photographer in a teaching hospital, within a few years I was offered a position in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. I could not have found a better opportunity to use my photography, than to have it help save the sight of thousands of patients over the years. In addition to producing images which were medically correct and useful to the patient, I pushed myself to also create images that go beyond their medical value and are beautiful in their own right.
