Sheep Season

There are more sheep in Scotland than there are people and nowhere is this more apparent than on the Isle of Skye where I spend a third of the year. During what became known as the "Clearances", the tenant farmers of the Scottish Highlands and Islands were forced to move (many to Canada and the US), by the landowners so their farms could be converted over to the raising of sheep, which was much more profitable. After moving to Skye, it became apparent that there was a "Sheep Season" dictated by the time of year, the weather and the crofters who continue the tradition. This portfolio is the start of learning and exploring the process.
